Abilene blog

Oh my!  It has been a long time since I have posted one of these blogumcallits.  I have been extremely busy with my new job and I am very much so loving every minute of it!  Abilene so far has been really good to my family and I.  I did not think I would like as much as I do this fast.  Lubbock is now a distant memory full of old friends, good times, and family.  I do not miss Lubbock very much and I know Molly does not either… Well to be honest she did not like it in the first place, lol.  Who could blame her right?  I am very surprised I lasted a little over 5 years there and I feel at home here in Abilene…. I know my mom will be like your home is in Andrews… Well my hometown is Andrews but my home is with my beautiful wife and baby girl!  Abilene for those who have never been here is unusually hot for some reason right now.  We need rain just like all of West Texas and we need lots of it.  I think Molly and I might have packed the Lubbock winds with us because it has been blowing nonstop.  Yes, like most you know there are fires around here and really all of West Texas, but do you see us on the National news whining like those liberals in California??? Nope, we just put our nose to the grind and fight them without complaining… This is why California needs the death penalty again… Keeps you strong and on your toes…
Anyway daddyhood is hard right now.  I feel like I spend lots of time at work which I do because I am training to be the best darn manager my bank has ever seen.. I want to be the Emilio Estevez of the bank; the brother of Charlie Sheen who played Gordon Bombay in the Mighty Ducks Trilogy.  EMILIO!  Winning…duh.  But seriously I have been training a lot!  I do get good quality time on the weekends with my family and it does help.  I am getting used to standing all day at work for the most part and I love being so active.  I no longer have to sit and sit and sit.  I am constantly busy at work and I love it!
Well Lilly is officially 6 MONTHS OLD!  I cannot believe how fast these months have gone…It is like I am in a Hot Tub Time machine that goes forward 6 months and not back to the 80’s.  The reason I am refereincing that movie is because I just got finished watching it on Netflix instantly because I could not sleep.  My thinking was the comedic genius that is John Cusack would null me to sleep and bam… the movie was actually decent enough to keep me awake.  Back to the kiddo, Lilly is probably the funniest baby I know… Well probably ever.  She blows bubbles already and she is actually learning to blow her lips and make funny noises.  She does this during feeding times and it is hilarious.  I say, parents let the experience this fun stuff… nobody needs a dull baby.  That would be just like watching an episode of CSI…. Dull and pointless… let them have fun and not predictable like and episode of CSI.  For those who do not know… I do not like CSI.  I predict the show every time and my wife hates it….
Molly and I had our first date night this past Friday.  We went the OG which was amazing!  Had some girly drinks we played like we were on Sex and the City.  Hi Samantha!  Ok, I played as if we were she judged me and judged me good.  We needed some us time and we really enjoyed it!  We also went back to high school and watched a Scream Movie… Scream 4 by the way…. Spoiler alert… The acting is pretty terrible but it is still pretty good.  The funny thing was this guy in front of us looked straight out of the early 90’s rap genre.  Square fro, gold chain, short sleeve oxford button all the way up and it was died red.  I laughed and Molly did too.  Parents you always need at least a night to yourself to enjoy each other.  Do not think oh we need to be around the kid all the time.  Then you will be boring like an episode of CSI or Law and Order SVU.  Not criminal minds though it’s a good show.  Enjoy one another!  It’s a great thing…

Well I am out of here
You stay classy internet and thanks for stopping by!

The last blog in Lubbock

First off I want to apologize for never blogging.  I feel absolutely terrible that I have not been blogging for all my legions of followers… Ok anyway, this will be my last blog till after we move to Abilene.  So here it goes.  Yesterday marked the 17th of March which is also St. Patty’s day!  And also, for some strange reason my mom tells me… my conception day… Yes I was a green  baby… or a product of green beer… Who knows… is this  TMI?  I think it might be… but since my Mom can tell me every year since I can remember that it was my conception day I can say what I want… Its my right.
Back to the real blog.  So this blog was meant to be a blog of chronicling(I thought I created a word but this word was real) daddy stuff so I am going to get back on track… I can promise I’ll be on the right track because I like to ramble on about things… I am like Charlie Sheen… I am winning… boom.  So needless to say I will be blogging again about daddy stuff for those new dads and those who are expecting to be new dads and also have weird quirky things added in.  That’s who I am… What can I say I drink Tigerblood and I am a warlock.. Too much Charlie Sheen?  Yes, so I will stop.
Well, Lilly is growing like a weed still and she has two teeth!  Yes not six months old yet and has 2 teeth!  I know 9 month olds that have no teeth… Well I do not know them personally and quite possibly they could be made up but needless to say there are 9 month olds that have fewer teeth than my great Lilly.  I will say during teething Children’s Advil is awesome!  Lilly loves the flavor and it actually works!  The tooth gel stuff doesn’t work that well and Lilly doesn’t like it.  Yours might but mine doesn’t.  Ok so things to know when babies are teething… they will chew on everything.  Spoons, shirts, cats, you, and themselves.  It’s what they do.  Lilly is funny about it because she will lunge for it like she is attacking her pray.  It kind of hurts but make sure whatever they are chewing on that it is clean.  And don’t let them chew on you because they will get into that habit and then you’ll have a people chewer and we know how those movies go…  For those that have no clue what I mean watch the shining and then never ever let your baby chew on you or other people again... Thanks Anthony Hopkins..  Side bar.  My cousin Andy was a biter, he is not a cannibal but he did have to eat pepper… I know crazy right?  But it worked he is 27 years old and finally kicked the habit, good job Andy!
So during these teething times you might have a baby that just lets the teeth come through and you’re like “where did these teeth come from?”  Others will be like screaming in misery and getting fevers and stomach stuff (this is me as a child, I am sorry to my parents).  But one thing they have in common is drool and lots of it.  I compare it to the movie Turner and Hooch and the dog drool looking like shoe strings coming out it its mouth.  This is not far from the truth.  Last night I got drooled in my eye.  Lilly smiled and Molly laughed… It was funny but really in the eye Lilly?  Eh she is the cutest baby ever anyway.

So my last day at City Bank is approaching and I am very excited about starting my new position at First Financial Bank  in Abilene!  Molly and her mother helped pack the majority of our house and we just have a little left and then we move the 24th and into our new place the 25th.  I then start my new job on the 28th!  Yes I am going to do this and be very tired!  Pray for us and thank you for reading my blog.  More daddy stuff to come!

TWO WEEKS NOTICE!!!!

So here it goes.  It has been one week since my last post and quite a bit has happened in the Banguish Clan!  So this past weekend marked the 25th birthday of my beautiful wife Molly.  She was not very excited to be hitting her mid 20’s but she is still younger than I am and she does let me know on a daily basis.  We traveled to Abilene and went to the Zoo with Lilly and Gigi (Molly’s Mom).  It was my first time at a zoo in 20 years.  I recall my first experience at the San Antonio Zoo when I was 6 years old fully expecting the laughing hyenas to laugh and they just laid around.  This was quite upsetting because I was 6 and fully expected to have a great laugh or two with the hyenas.  That s little jerks did nothing.  Also, the only other memory with the zoo was a big gorilla that picked his nose and actually ate his booger.  So not much to compare too, probably was cooler than that but the darn hyenas pissed me off.
Ok so here is the even bigger news and the reason for the title!  I have officially taken a position at First Financial Abilene as a Motor-Bank Manager!  I will be starting the 28th of this month and Molly and I will be moving there A.S.A.P. I turned my two weeks notice in today at my old job and I am extremely excited to be joining such a great bank and moving my family to the great city of Abilene!  I made a promise to Molly a little less than a year ago that I would get us to Abilene and the good GREAT LORD above answered the many prayers for us!  I want to thank everyone that prayed for my family and I during this time and we are very ready to be moving to Abilene!  This is going to be a great thing for us to be closer to Family and still not far from my parents!  Lilly is going to love growing up in Abilene!  Well lots of work ahead and keep us in your prayers.
Thanks for stopping by and you stay classy Internet!

Gary Busey blog...

Well, Hello Blog followers,
It has been awhile since my last post.  I want to apologize for not being so good at this blog stuff and posting more often.  My wife, however, is doing an amazing job on her 50 blogs in 50 days.  She seems to find good stuff to blog about.
My last blog was for my wife on Valentines Day.  I think I did well on our first Valentines Day as a married couple.  Many might not know this but my wife Molly was my very first Valentine.  Yes, the ladies man, Brian Anguish had never had a Valentine before his beautiful wife.  Well, needless to say it was a pretty laid back day with an amazing meal of Lasagna that Molly made.  Ok, so it was not hard for me to find Molly the ‘perfect’ gift for V-day… I knew she did not have her own set of pearls because she borrowed her Grandma’s pearls for our wedding.  So from that knowledge I stored (which most husbands do not) I bought her a great set of pearls.  Be jealous ladies, I am good at buying gifts, but to be very honest, I want to make sure that each gift I get for Molly is perfect.  She is my everything and I just want her to make sure she knows that by what I get her and what I say when I have the change to be romantic.
Ok, so this past weekend Molly and I had a visitor from the great town of Abilene.  Yes, my mother-in-law Ronda came for her first visit since November.  We have gone to Abilene during that timeframe, but she has been entirely too busy to come see us.  So this weekend was pretty awesome.  I would like to say that my Mother-in-law is a woman I love and consider to be another Mom for me.  Most husbands might not have the best relationship with their Mils but I do and I am blessed to because of it.  Well, Ronda keeps us busy in a good way when she is here.  There is really no words to describe Molly and I when we have no visitors… wait, there is.. We are Lazy… We enjoy relaxing and watching TV and play with Lilly a whole bunch.  Ronda gets us out and about and we shop, walk, and shop some more.  I know Molly loves it because she loves to Shop… Well tomorrow night we are headed to Abilene for some family stuff and get to eat at Red Robin… Yum… I am excited to go to Abilene because it is just a good place.
Ok so this blog is everywhere… It is like Gary Busey’s mind after his wreck… I wont you all to know that Molly is selling Scentsy now and you all should buy it.  Also she is going to be selling her crafts on Etsy and they are amazing… Take advantage because they are really cute and one of a kind.  I will post links when she gets everything up.
This is today’s blogs… Thanks for stopping by and like always you stay classy… Internet

For my Wife... sorry viewers this is for her and her only!

To My Wonderful Wife
Molly!
How do I begin to tell you how lucky I am
to have you in my life?
I'll start by saying what a gift you gave me
the day you became my wife.

You're my best friend in the good times
and my rock in times of sorrow.
You're the reason for sweet yesterdays
and my promise for tomorrow.

I never thought I could feel this loved
until you became my wife.
You made this year and every year
the best one of my life.
I am forever yours… Faithfully
I love you,

This ones for the... Cat. Also, working for the weekend???

I have realized that I have posted a lot of about my beautiful daughter Lilly and have left out my step-daughter Pumpkin Haire-Anguish.  Pumpkin is my wife’s firstborn (cat) that has more personality than I have ever seen in a cat.  For example, when she is thirsty she does not drink from a bowl because she prefers to drink from the sink… We just turn in on a trickle and she drinks out of it like a water fountain.  Also, when she is thirsty she makes all aware of it.  She will mess with bags in the wee hours of the morning, jump on the bed and meow as loud as she can until one of us notice her, chew on Molly’s hair, and last resort she will jump on our nightstands and knock over items on purpose.  She is a teenager through and through.  She hides when she is in trouble, yells when she is mad, and makes a mess to try to prove a point.  I honestly would not want it any other way.  Pumpkin makes our life quite interesting with her antics but she is also the kitty that gets up with Molly and me at night with Lilly to be on guard while we feed her.  She is the kitty that will go to bed the same time Lilly does in the twin bed we have in Lilly’s room the bed that is now Pumpkins.  She acts like she does not like Lilly but you can tell secretly that she loves her very much and is protective of her.  She might be a cat but she is our cat, my step-daughter and Molly’s firstborn.  Pumpkin thank you for making our lives better by just being the cat you are.  I have always considered myself a dog person, but pumpkin has shown me that cats are just as fun and honestly easier to take care of.  To pumpkin!

Ok, so let’s talk about the weekend.  Molly and I spent most of Saturday in the apartment.  I worked on some homework and she did some pretty awesome crafts which I think when she starts to put them on the market you all should buy them because they are awesome!  Well, we also watched a few episodes of the Fox hit Glee, yes I said Glee.  We wanted to see what the big deal was with the show and we still are not impressed.  Sorry Gleeks, the show stinks.  Back to the weekend, Lilly was doing so good all day long, she was eating well, taking naps, watching Molly do crafts, me do some homework (She feel asleep because I was boring), and she just talked the whole day.  We were very pleased that she was doing so well.  New parents you understand what we mean.  A happy baby is much better than a screaming baby….
Then all hell broke loose.  Steph and Corey some of our friends were in town and wanted to treat us to a delicious dinner of Sushi.  So we went to this restaurant thinking to ourselves that Lilly has done so good it should be a fun evening…  Guess what?  Wrong.  We get to the restaurant and Lilly decided she did not like all the noise and the terrible jazz tunes the house band was playing that night.  I honestly felt like screaming as well because of the shrieking jazz saxophone and jazz flute… I held back though.  Well Back to the story… So we get to the restaurant and for a few minutes Lilly is just staring at Steph and Corey wondering who the heck they are… Then bam… The shrieks of the life time… people are staring and I am giving them looks back.  Molly is trying to soothe Lilly and nothing is working.  So Molly and Steph take her to the entrance to try and get her to calm down… it kind of works… but right when they get back to the table Lilly starts up again… People are looking, I am looking at them.  I think to myself if I hear one comment I am going to chunk my west Texas sushi at them in hopes the jalapeño will hit them in their eye.  Well, I go after Molly and Lilly and I let Molly go sit at the table to see if I can calm her down.  Guess what?  (Loud journey music starts to play) and Super Dad arrives and I get her to actually go to sleep!

Yes, after 30mins of screaming she actually started to laugh at me and then she allowed herself to go to sleep.  So for new dads out there this was a win for us.  For new parents I know there is nothing worse than hearing your little one cry and it just hurts because you don’t know what to do.  I say this patience yes patience will get you through.  Molly and I both are learning more patience how handling Lilly and it works.  It is tough but just have patience and things will get better.  Well this is my blog for today… Thanks for stopping by.. Internet… and like always you stay classy!  here is a cute picture of Lilly to finish off the blog...

A wins a win...

Well well well, looks like I have proved my wife wrong for the first time in our marriage.  A few weeks ago I said to my wife “my beautiful wife of mine, I think we should buy a Nintendo Wii with part of our Income tax refund.  It is full of great workout games and we would also be getting the Wii fit to keep us in better shape and have fun doing it.”  Her reply (might be misconstrued, but for humor sake here it goes)  “there is no way we are getting a video game system for you so you can play video games all day long…  I do not need you getting lazy playing a game system.  That is a stupid idea Brian… video game system… geez”  Made me feel like I was 7 years old asking for a gaming system and having my parents say we are not getting you or your brother a gaming system.  Then to take our attention away from our crazy idea, they would say the floor was lava and that would keep us busy trying not to touch the floor for hours.  This game was also called your poor… I am kidding my dad actually was the one who bought the first Nintendo and stayed up for hours playing duck hunt and Mario saying to my brother and me that it was still his turn because he was older that is no lie, my mom can verify that.
Ok, so this morning I woke up to snow (which was expected) and to negative wind-chill temperatures that was around -20 degrees, yes -20 and it is supposed to be colder tomorrow!  I am in West Texas where it does get cold but to a degree not a negative degree and 20 of them.  I got up early to warm up the car and to leave to work early because of the roads.  I got in the car and it said 6 degrees I think that was inside temperature of the car.  Well, I got wrapped up like the kid from A Christmas Story.

Finally my wife is going to be going for 50 blogs in 50 days.  I told her the parts that might cause her not to blog each day and she thinks I meant that she couldn’t.  I do think she can contrary to her blog today www.onepumpkinandcounting.blogspot.com so go for it babe!  Also, back to the win.  The all-time record for me is 1 win and 265,332,078.  So I have quite of ways to go to be caught back up.

Will there be a curve on this test... This parenting test.

First, my beautiful wife has a new blog post today on hers www.onepumpkinandcounting.blogspot.com.  Be careful, clicking that link it will only lead to awesomeness and lots of it.  She does an amazing job on her blog and I am jealous how much better at it she is than I am!  I love you Babe!  She is also the creator of my new blog look!  I thought the daddy chronicle needed to look like a chronicle and since I am just a novice at this a sheet of paper was the best selection (of like just starting out), thanks again babe!

Ok so here it goes.  Experienced parents know what I am about to talk about and will be nodding continuously (I Hope) reading this post.  When finding out I was going to be a daddy I got excited and thought about all the fun times Lilly and I would have on daddy-daughter days and other fun days.  I pictured her as a toddler before I pictured her as a wonderful baby.  I mean look at her she is the cutest baby of all time!

This type of thinking is what most new daddies think about (so I am told).  They think about the fun stuff later on and not the most difficult part of parenting which is every bit of it (expected parental nod).  Our beautiful daughter who usually is a smiling, laughing, and talkative sweet baby became extremely fussy and decided why talk when I scream???   This caused Molly and my stress level to reach all time limits… The picture below would be a good picture of what is in mind about stress and the device used to measure stress i.e. the Stress-O-Meter.

Well we finally figured that Ms. Lilly was teething all the signs where there such as
1.       Extreme drooling
2.       Lots and lots of chewing
3.       A very pissed off baby
4.       Stressful parents scrambling for teething rings
5.       Journey was not soothing anyone
Step Five is the most important because if the voice of Steve Perry cannot soothe you, then nothing can.  Just the sight of him should soothe most (Picture below).

Well guess what Internet?  The teething was just a small portion of Lilly’s pissed off meter, which looks like this at the highest point.

She was actually having problems with the formula we switched to after Molly could no longer breast feed.  Which side bar.  Woman that breastfeed their children deserve a medal, a medal of honor if you will.  The ability to feed your baby from your bosom is astonishing.   Also, the craziness you all have to experience is unbelievable and speaking for Men all around the world and the first man to do so.  I apologize for doing this to you, you are the strongest person in the world and I am a baby who could not even handle a thorn in my toe and you can push a baby out of a place that should not be able to fit a baby.  In comparison it would be like me pushing out a grapefruit from you know where.  Thank you for all you do and you are the best!  There you go ladies I said it.  It took many of many years but I was the first to say it.  Document this Wikipedia.  Back from the sidebar, the formula we switched to was milk based and in caused World War III in Lilly’s tummy and she did not enjoy this.  After finally realizing the problem we switched to a soy based formula and she is doing well again and is very happy!  I know parenting is a learning process and I will be taking notes that will not come in useful for the next one because he or she will be different from Lilly.  So I then will have more notes that will basically become blogs.  This is my blog today and I hope you enjoyed it.
Again thanks for stopping by.  And you stay classy… Blog readers of mine.
Kind regards,
Brian

Daddy-Daughter Day=Tiring and fun!

This past weekend marked the first time I have spent almost all day with just Lilly and me.  This was monumental because Molly was able to have a spa day with her friend Alexis.  So, I would like to say thank you to Alexis for treating my wife to such a fun and relaxing day.  Ok, so back to the first ever daddy-daughter day.  Lilly and I were left to fend for one another around 11am-almost 7pm while mommy was gone to the Spa.  I have to admit that I pictured the day being crazy hectic ending with Lilly and I covered in poop while Pumpkin hid under the bed meowing for Molly to get home.  I wish I could create a funny picture showing the image that was in my head when Molly stepped out the door but here is a funny picture of Bill Cosby… this is my humor enjoy

Makes one want a pudding pop…
Well to be honest, it was really an easy going day.  Lilly and I went to wash the Corolla after the great West Texas weather brought us mud from the sky.  For those who do not know West Texas well, does not realize it rains mud every so often here, yes it actually rains mud, don’t judge.  We were going to clean the inside of the car but Miss Lilly decided she wanted to go home and relax.  I didn’t mind her thinking.  Lilly is on a strict schedule she has created herself and she will let you know when she wants food, diaper change, or to get naked (diaper and bib).

After a few hours of napping, yes she napped, which if you read my wife’s blog www.onepumpkinandcounting.blogspot.com (cute new blog today, shout out, love you babe!), you will know she does not nap very much.  After napping, Lilly and I enjoyed a fun time of watching some NFL playoff football and shopping to get her a new vibrating seat because someone broke hers (cough cough, Molly).  The new seat is a Disney Baby Einstein set that is awesome and lights up and plays music and Lilly seems to enjoy it greatly.  I will say that this day was pretty awesome and Lilly and I enjoyed the Lullaby music of Journey’s Rockabye Lullabies as well.

Yes I love Journey so much my Mom got Lilly this CD so we both could rock out and nap to the soothing sounds of Journey.  This is my blog today and thanks for stopping by, You stay classy… Internet.

Three months down...What have I learned?? Mom knows best!

It has been over three months since my Lilly was born and even in that short amount of time I have learned quite a bit.  I did have experience coming into Lilly’s birth with the help of my niece Audrey.  I used to say there is nothing better than being an Uncle.  I could go over and hangout with Audrey for hours spoiling her then leaves her with her parents to deal with the aftermath of Uncle Brian.  I was wrong; being a Dad is the best part.  I get to see Lilly grow everyday, see her smile and get excited when Molly and I walk into her room after she wakes up, and also change those crazy diapers (Molly does change way more than me though).  I get to hold her when she wants me too, mimic the sounds she makes in hopes she will mimic me when I makes sounds to her, and try to raise to by a Buckeyes fan/Texas Tech fan.  I also get to see my beautiful wife Molly become the best Mother ever.
I could not tell you how important Molly is to me and Lilly.  She is there for Lilly 24/7 and knows what is wrong with her by her cry.  I am still in guessing stages on her different cries, but I do know the hungry cry and the wet diaper cry.  Molly jumps right into action and seems to know what Lilly needs.  I watch in amazement seeing how it is like Lilly and her have a secret language.  I will try eight different things and she could still be crying and then bam Molly jumps in and offers advice and Lilly stops crying.  I was thinking this morning that the phrase working mother is redundant.  Being a mother is work and my wife is the best mother/wife ever!  Sophia Loren once said “When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts.  A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child.” I am very lucky to have such a great wife and mother for my Lilly and future kids.

I couldn’t picture myself without this amazing, beautiful, sexy Woman!  I love you with all of my heart!

My first blog post ever...

I have wanted to start a blog since I saw how much fun my wife has with hers.  She does a great job posting on onepumpkinandcounting.blogspot.com.  I have been sitting here for a little over an hour now trying to think of the best post for the first blog post.  So here it goes….
Since I've been blessed with a child in my life, I realize there are two distinct and different roles I hold for my daughter. I'm both a father and a dad. Some people get the responsibilities and the roles all mixed up, but there are some of us who know the difference.
First:
I knew I was a father when I got so scared and happy when my wife told me she was pregnant.
I knew I was a dad when I had a reason to go to a toy store instead of trying to relive my childhood.
Second:
I knew I was a father when I would get tingle from touching my wife’s pregnant belly.
I knew I was a dad when I would sing Journey songs to my wife’s belly in hope that my unborn daughter would love the band as much as I did.
Last:
I knew I was a father when I struggled with CRAZY diaper changes (see picture below).

I knew I was a dad when it really did not matter how crazy the diapers were.
This is just a small part of what I am going to be blogging about and I hope you come to enjoy the Daddy Chronicles.
